Jesuit Dallas pieced together a rousing start to the 2022-23 campaign, securing its second straight Bart Granger Tournament Championship with a record-breaking performance on Sept. 15-16 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Rangers secured a 546 total team score, besting Houston Memorial by two strokes for the tournament championship. Jesuit set a new program record for first round team score over 18 holes with a -12 (272), following that performance with the second lowest 18-hole second round score, combining to score a -6 (274) on day two. Overall, Jesuit's 546 team score, which equated to -18 on the course, set a new program mark for best team score over a 36-hole tournament.
Sophomore
Jack Clancy led the way for Jesuit, tying a team record for a low round of 18 score with a 64 in the first round, following that with a 69 in round two for a 133 total, allowing the sophomore and 2023 UIL State Tournament qualifier to place fourth overall.
Junior
Reese Roberts turned in a pair of rounds four-under par, carding identical rounds of 68 to close out the tournament tied for seventh with a 136 final score. Junior
Max Chan secured a 137 score, opening with a -3 (69) before adding another under-par round with a -4 (68) in the second round to tie for 12th place.
Sophomore
Spencer Carter tied for 21st with a -1 (71) and -3 (69) over his two rounds, while junior
Connor Chisum wrapped the Ranger lineup tied for 50th with a 144 total score, a two-round total which included one round under par.
Jesuit will return to the course on Wednesday, Sept. 20 when the Blue and Gold compete in the Plano ISD Invitational at The Courses at Watters Creek. Additional varsity tournaments are scheduled to take place on Oct. 10, when the Rangers compete at the annual Cougar Open, and on Oct. 13-14, when Jesuit heads to Texarkana for the Jay Brewer Memorial Classic.
