Swimming & Diving Improves to 2-0 With Win Over Coppell

The swimming and diving team improved to 2-0 on the season, upending Coppell, 136-49 on Tuesday evening at the David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center.
 
Three Rangers secured two wins apiece, as juniors Sam Kennington and Sebastian Suwanda each secured a pair of victories. Kennington swept the sprint events with wins in the 50 (21.70) and 100 (45.51) freestyle races. Suwanda scored a win in the 200 free (1:49.75) and added a first place finish in the 500 free (5:03.86). Sophomore Jonah Ruhl earned two wins of his own, hitting the wall first in the 200 I.M. (1:56.34) and the 100 back (54.19). Sophomore Luke Lary won the 100 fly in 54.00, and senior Oliver Miller scored a victory in the 100 breast, hitting the wall in 1:06.34
 
Jesuit's relay teams earned a pair of wins, sparked by a victorious, 1:29.35 total relay time from the quartet of Lary, Suwanda, Ruhl and Kennington. The same foursome would also pick up a win in the 400 free relay, combining for a 3:19.99 total relay time.
 
In diving the Rangers were led by a 129.55 from freshman Koby Broad and a 112.50 from senior Wills Blosser. Broad notched his best score of the day on his fourth dive, a front 1 ½ tuck that procured a 26.40, and capped his performance with a 25.60 inward somersault tuck. Blosser opened his run with four straight dives that scored 20 or more points, including an inward dive tuck (20.30), a back dive straight half twist (22.50), a front 1 ½ tuck that resulted in his top score of the meet (24.80) and a back dive straight (20.40).
 
Jesuit will host its annual intrasquad meet on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The event will begin with diving at 4:15 p.m., followed by swimming at 5:45 p.m. The Rangers' next home dual meet is set for Nov. 7, when the Blue and Gold welcome Highland Park to The Gull.
