Hockey Upends Northwest in Shootout, Moves to 6-0 on the Year

Jesuit Dallas warded off a late comeback by Northwest and remained unbeaten on the year with a 6-5 shootout victory on Wednesday at the Richardson StarCenter.
 
The Rangers took a 4-0 lead on Northwest with goals from senior Tyler Woods, two tallies from junior Allen Zhang and a goal from senior Travis Hogan. Northwest scored three unanswered before Woods netted his second of the game with 3:43 left in regulation to spot the Rangers a two-goal advantage. Northwest forced overtime with two empty-net goals over the last 92 seconds of regulation, and the two teams went into the shootout after a scoreless five minutes of overtime.
 
Junior William Hubbell struck first for Jesuit, successfully converting his shootout attempt to answer a missed attempt by Northwest. After Northwest missed its second attempt, senior Thomas Fino put the game away with the Rangers' second shootout goal.
 
Four members of the Jesuit Dallas team tied for the team lead with two points apiece, as Woods, Zhang, Hogan and senior Ewan Randles notched two points apiece. Randles would lead the team with two assists on the night while additional assists were recorded by Hogan, senior Brandon Peppard, senior Conor Parro, senior Andrew Theisen and Fino. Sophomore Kirin Zeikus earned the win in goal with 22 saves.
 
Jesuit returns to the Richardson StarCenter on Wednesday, Nov. 6 against McKinney. Puck drop is set for 6:45 p.m.
