Jesuit Dallas Rugby posted a 49-17 win over Strake Jesuit on Saturday at Ranger Stadium, outlasting the Crusaders in a meeting of nationally ranked teams that also served as a rematch of last spring's Rugby Texas Varsity Cup Finals.
Â
Entering the matchup, Jesuit Dallas was ranked 18th in the nation according to
Goff Rugby Report, and Strake Jesuit was ranked 19th. All seven scores on Saturday were scored by a member of Jesuit's senior class, as
Jake Sullivan led the way with three tries on the evening. Senior
Chase Brown scored twice while
Jacob Lehman and Mitch Sullivan each scored for the Rangers. Senior
Dylan Wachsman continued to be a consistent presence for the Rangers on special teams, going 7-for-7 in conversion attempts.
Â
The victory marks Jesuit's biggest margin of victory over Strake since the resumption of the annual meeting between the programs during the 2020 season. Jesuit will return to Ranger Stadium on a short-week turnaround, as the Rangers will welcome Lake Travis for a 6 p.m. kickoff on Thursday, Feb. 29. The Rangers can secure the top seed in the upcoming
Rugby Texas Varsity Cup Tournament and a North Divisional Championship title with a win.
