4/5/2024 5:20:00 PM

A dramatic hole-out by senior Max Chan on the first playoff hole punched Jesuit's ticket to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 7-6A Championships, as the Rangers placed second in the annual tournament on April 4-5 at Firewheel Golf Course in Garland, Texas.

Chan recorded an eagle on the first playoff hole, landing his approach shot to give the Rangers a massive upper hand against Highland Park. Sophomore Spencer Carter was the Rangers' top finisher at the event, finishing third overall with a 144 two-day total, shooting one-under par with a 71 on day one before closing out the tournament one-over par on day two.

The rest of the Jesuit Dallas varsity gold lineup included Chan, who posted a 157 (80-77), junior Reese Roberts, who tacked on a 158 (78-80), sophomore Jack Clancy, who added a 165 (82-83) to the team total, and junior Connor Chisum, who secured a 158 (81-77).

Freshman JD Moore was the top finisher for Jesuit's blue team, as the freshman added the team's second round under par of the tournament with a 71 on day one to finish in eighth with a 153 total score. Junior Nicholas Norris (161; 79-82), sophomore Jimmy Nackley (157; 79-78), junior Miles Russell (159; 80-79) and senior George Murray (165; 76-89) rounded out the blue team lineup, which placed fifth overall at the tournament with a 626 total team score.

The Rangers will advance to the regional round, which is set to take place from April 15-16 in Cedar Hill, Texas. The two-day tournament is booked for Tangle Ridge Golf Course, a location that has seen the Rangers secure a pair of second place finishes in tournaments played on Mar. 1-2 (Regional Tournament Preview) and March 26 (Tangle Ridge Tournament).
