FARMERS BRANCH, Texas -
Maxwell Reynolds scored in the third round of a shootout to give the Jesuit Dallas hockey team the 2-1 victory over McKinney at the StarCenter on Wednesday night.
The teams each scored in the first five minutes of the opening period before holding each other scoreless the remaining 40 minutes of regulation and overtime.
Jesuit got on the board first when
Rhys Garrick scored 1:23 into the contest. It was his fourth goal of the season, matching
Wade Bryan for the team lead.
McKinney tied it less than three minutes later on a goal by Tate Cakir. That's the way it stood until the shootout.
Bennett Ortegon made 21 saves for Jesuit.
The Rangers moved to 5-1-1 on the season and collected the first shootout decision in the league's opening seven weeks. They are currently tied for second place with McKinney at 15 points, one behind Prosper.
Jesuit will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 5 against Allen. The puck drops at the Richardson StarCenter at 6:45 p.m.
