The Ranger lacrosse team saw a halftime lead slip away as Westlake outscored the Rangers, 5-0 in the third en route to a 15-9 win on Saturday in Austin, handing the Rangers their first loss of 2025 at Chapparal Stadium.
 
Jesuit was led by two-goal outings from juniors Cayden Bartusek, Andrew Ditchman and Grayson Gilbert. Juniors David Atwell, Jack Lynch and senior Caleb Caldwell completed the Rangers' scoring column. Ditchman, Gilbert and senior Declan McGarity tacked on assists for the Blue and Gold. 
 
Caldwell went 14-of-24 in face-off attempts, adding a team-leading nine ground balls. Atwell and senior Anthony Pierce caused two turnovers apiece while junior Jack Steinbach secured four ground balls for the Rangers. Senior Gabriel James made 12 saves in the cage during his second start of the season.
 
Jesuit will return to Ranger Stadium on Saturday, February 15 to take on The Woodlands. The Highlanders opened the season on Friday, upending Houston Christian, 26-2. Face-off is set for 2 p.m. as the Rangers will look to secure their second home win of the 2025 campaign.
