The Rangers picked up two wins on Saturday to finish out the Five Tool Invitational with a 4-2 record and improve the team's record on the year to 7-2. Jesuit defeated Maryknoll (Hawaii), 10-0 in five innings before holding off in-state Region I-6A member Frenship, 7-6 in the final game of the tournament.

Jesuit scattered 10 hits against Maryknoll, opening the contest with five runs in the bottom of the first. Junior
Braxton Barber forced a game-opening walk, stole second and was driven home on a single by senior
E'mar Fleming II. Fleming would later score on a Maryknoll error before junior
Charlie Wilson blasted a home run to left, playing junior Haddock and sophomore
Roman Derichsweiler to spot the Rangers a 5-0 lead heading into the second.Â

Cooper Thomas drove in runs in the fourth to increase Jesuit's lead to 10 runs. Sophomore Cooper Patton closed the door on Maryknoll in the top of the fifth, finishing a complete-game, three-hit gem that saw Patton strike out three Spartans.

Jesuit answered a two-run first inning by Frenship with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Fleming scored Barber with a one-out single before Haddock plated Parker with a single up the middle. Fleming would later score off of a Frenship error and then drive in Barber once again in the bottom of the second to increase Jesuit's lead to three runs. The Rangers scored two runs on another Tiger error, but Frenship would rally with four runs in the fourth to cut Jesuit's lead to one.

Junior Jacob Martinez threw 3.2 innings on the mound, striking out two batters before senior
Peyton Brown took over and earned the save, throwing 2.1 innings of one-hit, shutout work and striking out a batter.

The Rangers will travel to central Texas for the Lake Travis Invitational, a three-day tournament that starts on Thursday, March 6 against Sinton. First pitch between the Rangers and Pirates is set for 4:30 p.m. at Dripping Springs H.S.
