Jesuit Dallas rugby is headed to the Rugby Texas Varsity Cup Finals for the fourth consecutive year following a hard-fought, 35-29 win over Celina on Thursday at Ranger Stadium. The Rangers will face Strake Jesuit for the 2025 Rugby Texas Varsity Cup Championship on Saturday, May 3 in Austin, Texas.
Â
The Rangers were paced by five tries scored by five members of the Jesuit Dallas rugby program. Senior
Kane Murray started the charge for the Rangers, finding pay dirt before senior Charlie Cole converted to spot Jesuit an early 7-0 lead. Junior
Tanner Krug and senior Cason Clarke scored the next two tries for the Rangeres before senior
Reid Miller broke through to keep Jesuit ahead of the Bobcats.
Â
Senior Alex Andujar capped the win with a late score, as Murray converted kicks on the final two tries of the game to help fend off Celina's late-game push.
Â
The victory sets the stage for a 2025 Rugby Texas Varsity Cup final that pits the Rangers against the Crusaders. Saturday's matchup will feature the third straight year the Jesuit Dallas and Strake Jesuit will meet for the Varsity Cup, with Jesuit Dallas securing the wins in 2023 (27-14) and 2024 (27-14).
