A goal by junior Grayson Gilbert with 1:09 remaining in the fourth quarter lifted Jesuit Dallas past Westlake for an 8-7 victory in a Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) Class AA State Quarterfinal on Saturday in Austin. The stage is now set for the Rangers to battle top-seeded Highland Park in the state semifinals on Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at Highlander Stadium.

Junior Marshall Sorokwasz led the way for the Rangers with three goals on the day, while junior Cayden Bartusek led the team in total points with four points on two goals and two assists. Juniors David Atwell and Andrew Ditchman completed the Rangers' scoring column while Atwell, Sorokwasz and senior Declan McGarity each secured an assist.

Junior goalie Gabriel James made a massive contribution for the Rangers, making 18 saves during the game to keep the Rangers in contention. Senior Caleb Caldwell won 15-of-19 face-off attempts while securing a team-high 12 ground balls, and the tandem of senior Arsen Ventura and junior John Gregory caused two turnovers apiece.

Saturday's semifinal will mark the second time this season that the Rangers and Scots will square off following Jesuit's dramatic, 7-6, overtime win over Highland Park on April 11. The victory provides Jesuit with its first playoff win since 2022, and the Rangers will enter championship weekend with its sights set on the fifth championship in program history. The winner of Saturday's semifinal will meet either Episcopal School of Dallas or The Woodlands in the THSLL State Championship game at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 11.
