Harlan Beucler Concludes Historic Season With Fourth-Place Finish at State

5/6/2025 3:29:00 PM

Junior Harlan Beucler closed a season for the ages on Saturday, finishing the year fourth in the state in the 200m dash at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A Track & Field State Championships on Saturday, May 3 in Austin, Texas.

Beucler ran a 21.06 in the 200m final, narrowly missing a top three finish by 0.03 seconds. Northside Harlan junior Tate Taylor won the event with a 20.14, capping an incredible state championship performance that included a national-record 9.92 in the 100m dash earlier in the afternoon. Beucler's performance was enough to land Jesuit in the final team standings despite only having one competitor, as the Rangers finished the meet tied for 42nd place with four points in the team standings ahead of fellow Region I-6A schools Flower Mound, Plano, Denton Guyer, Copell, Hebron and Plano East.

Throughout the 2025 season, Beucler has created buzz as one of the top sprinters in the state. During the indoor season, he set a new program record in the 200m dash with a 22.07 in the Wes Kittley H.S. Invitational at Texas Tech, setting the stage for a record-breaking outdoor track and field season. At the Jesuit-Sheaner Relays, Beucler won the 200m dash after setting a new program record in the event with a 20.78 in prelims, besting a 20-year old mark set in 1995 by Jesuit Dallas hall of famer Johnathan Howard '95. Beucler would also set a school record in the 100m dash with a 10.25, taking out the old record of 10.46 recorded by Hunter Krepp '22 in 2022.

Specializing in the 200m dash, Beucler did not lose a single race on his path to state, following his record-setting performances at the Sheaner Relays with a district championship (21.17), an area championship (20.93) and a regional championship (20.90) to clinch his first individual berth at state. Beucler also picked up four wins in the 100m dash during the season and participated in three victorious relay races for the Blue and Gold.

Jesuit Dallas finished the year second in District 7-6A but had a presence in the state championship for the fourth straight season following Hunter Krepp in 2022 (100m dash), Thatch Balady in 2023 (pole vault), and the 4x400 relay team of Henry Beckman, Sean Watson, Caden Cutchall and Beucler in 2024.
