CARROLLTON, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas football team suffered a 31-3 non-district loss to Hebron in the season opener for both squads at Brian Brazil Stadium on Friday.
Jesuit (0-1) finished with 266 yards of total offense, including 208 through the air. Senior
Beck Berry was 22-of-38 for 159 yards. Senior
Shane Parker had nine catches for 72 yards, along with 47 rushing and return yards for 119 all-purpose.
The defense was led by senior Cole Wambacher with a career-high 12 tackles, followed by 10 from senior
Gabriel James. The Rangers sacked both Hawk quarterbacks once, with
Joe Norman in on both for 1.5 sacks. Cabe Weismueller had seven stops and 1.5 tackles for loss, and
Jack Bourret broke up a pair of passes in addition to six tackles.
Hebron (1-0) scored touchdowns on its first two possessions and Jesuit got on the board with a
Cooper McGough 33-yard field goal in the middle. The Hawks led 14-3 after the opening 12 minutes. Hebron went up 21-3 late in the first half, scoring on a short field following a tipped interception. The home squad added touchdowns in the third and fourth quarter to account for the final score.
Jesuit returns to play this Friday, playing host to Jesuit New Orleans (1-0) at Ranger Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The Blue Jays defeated Slidell Northshore 17-10 on the road on Friday.
