PLANO, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas ice hockey team fell to Birdville in the final game of round-robin playoff play but had already secured a spot in next week's stat championship final.
On Wednesday, the Rangers grabbed the lead just 2:23 into the contest when
Maxwell Reynolds took a feed from
Rex Garrick and Payton Raver for a 1-0 lead. Birdville came back and got a pair of first period goals from Roman Aston.
Jesuit tied it at 2-2 on a
Wade Bryan score with 11:00 left in the second period. But Aston scored three more times for a 5-game game as Birdville ended the game with a 6-2 victory.
Jesuit held a 28-19 edge in shots but just couldn't capitalize on soe strong scoring opportunities at different points in the game.
Jesuit will face Frisco on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in the AT&T Metroplex High School Hockey League State Championship Game at the Children's Health StarCenter in Plano.
