MIDLAND, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas soccer team scored four goal in the second half on its way to a 4-1 victory over El Paso Coronado in the University Interscholastic League Class 6A Division 2 Boys Soccer Regional semifinal at Astound Broadband Stadium on Thursday.
The win was the 20th of the year for Jesuit (20-0-2) and put the team into the Region I Championship game next Monday or Tuesday against either Southlake Carroll or Plano West. The Rangers will be making their ninth all-time UIL Regional Finals appearance.
After a scoreless opening 40 minutes, th Rangers got on the scoreboard just 3:20 into the second period when
Zane Roland took a pass from
Luca Shipley and sent a 33-yard rocket into the corner of the goal for his eighth score of the season.
The Thunderbirds tied it at one 12 minutes later on a penalty kick by Zed Camargo after a foul in the box.
Just over five minutes later,
Christian Bilger out-jumped teammate
Cooper McGough for a header goal off a long free kick from Shipley. In the 71st minute, Shipley was able to find paydirt, taking a short pass from Roland that he slipped past the keeper for a 3-1 lead.
Jesuit completed the scoring with just 2:21 on the clock when
Julian Jaime recorded his second goal of the season on a pass from Roland, who finished the game with a goal and two assists.
The Rangers finished the game with a 12-to-5 edge in shots.
Sage Jones stopped the four live play shots that were put on goal.
