ABILENE, Texas - Jesuit Dallas junior Darren Clemons finished in ninth place at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association 6A Division 1 State Championships on Saturday.

Clemons finished with 925 total pounds lifted. He had a 315 squat, 205 bench press and 405 dead lift.

Clemons was the first Jesuit Dallas powerlifter to qualify for state since 2017 when Jordan Odulio and Evan Jackson went at 198 and Stephen Mancillas at 165.

He qualified for the state meet with a runner-up performance in the Region 3 championships two weeks prior.
