PRINCETON, Texas - Jesuit's explosive offense and stout defense helped the Rangers to a 45-0 shutout of the Princeton Panthers to open district play Friday night at Jackie Hendricks Stadium.
Jesuit (2-2, 1-0 District 6-6A) won its district opener for the ninth-consecutive year and was flawless on offense and defense.Â
The Rangers outgained the Panthers 514-to-150 in total offense. Jesuit's defense came up huge for the second-consecutive week, collecting three turnovers and holding the home squad off the scoreboard for all 11 drives. They have now turned away the opposition in their last 19 possessions.

On offense, J.P. Livingstone threw for 200 yards on 18-of-24 with two touchdown passes and a 15-yard scoring run. George Gladstone used a career-long 84-yard touchdown run to lead all rushers with 94 yards on five carries. He also caught a 3-yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter. Ty Daboub had a score on the ground as he finished with 81 yards on 17 carries. Joseph Konnings caught four passes for a team-high 82 yards.Â
The Rangers jumped out to a 7-0 lead less than four minutes into the game and carried that momentum throughout the night, taking a 31-0 advantage into halftime.
Jesuit also delivered its most impressive defensive performance of the young season, holding Princeton scoreless throughout the game. Jesuit's defense came up huge for the second-consecutive week, collecting three turnovers and holding the home squad off the scoreboard for all 11 drives. Senior linebacker Simon McGoldrick forced a fumble late in the first half to halt a Princeton scoring opportunity, while fellow seniors Ben Phillips and Jack Bourret each recorded interceptions. The Rangers' defense finished with three takeaways and recorded five tackles for loss.
Princeton (2-2, 0-1) had just six first downs and only reached Jesuit territory three times. The Panthers were 2-of-11 on third down. Aiden Hughes was 13-of-27 for 131 yards with two interceptions and a sack. PHS totaled just 19 rushing yards on 16 attempts.
Jesuit will play host to McKinney Boyd (1-3, 0-1) next Friday, Sept. 25. The Homecoming game at Ranger Stadium will kick off at 7 p.m.
