Jesuit Lacrosse finished its season Sunday, falling at the hands of The Woodlands in the THSLL Super Regional Final, the state quarterfinals. The Woodlands, the top team in the South Region and ranked No. 3 in the state, won the match 7-0 at Houston's Kinkaid School Sunday afternoon.
Â
The loss marks the end of the Jesuit's 2015 lacrosse season, and the end of a successful career for 13 graduating seniors. Season highlights included winning the
Jesuit Dallas Invitational in January in undefeated fashion,
beating the No. 1 ranked Highland Park at home on Senior Night, and two convincing wins in the first two rounds of the THSLL playoffs over
Coppell and
Austin Anderson. Jesuit was also consistently
ranked among the state's top ten teams.
Â
Seniors
Levi Jobe,
Christian Miller,
Sterling Coker,
Luke Hoffman,
Gavin McClure,
Kyle Casillas, and
James Schroeder all scored playoff goals for the Rangers.
Marco Robertson was strong in net all season, aided by the defense of fellow seniors
Chris Surran,
Sean Alexander, and
Christopher Majorie.
Joseph Frunzi and
Gabe Gomez helped out in the midfield as well.
Â
Jesuit boasts a large number of talented underclassmen who gained experience this year, and look to continue the program's success.
Â
Lacrosse becomes the fifth Jesuit sport to finish its season among the state's Top 10 teams. Â Hockey (
State Champions), Rugby (
Plate Division State Champions), Swimming & Diving (
Fifth Place at UIL State Meet), and Golf (
Ninth Place at UIL State Meet) each finished in the Top 10 in Texas, while three other sports (Baseball, Crew, and Cycling) are currently ranked in the Top 10.
