Junior
Jacob Palisch hurled his second no-hitter of the season, striking out a season-high 15 batters to make an emphatic statement for No. 11 Jesuit Dallas in a 4-0 win over Highland Park in game one of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A Region II Quarterfinals on Thursday night at Scotland Yard.
Palisch moved his record on the year to 9-0, striking out the first 12 batters in order to start the contest.  The junior threw the fifth no hitter of the year for the Rangers' pitching staff and second of the playoffs, following the no-hitter collected by fourth year
Kyle Muller in the series-clincher against North Mesquite on May 7.
In total, the Jesuit pitching staff has shut out four of six postseason opponents this year, including three consecutive shutouts by Palisch, who has yet to allow a run in 21 postseason innings pitched.  The Rangers' mound contingent has procured a 1.58 earned run average during the playoffs, striking out 72 total batters and holding opposing hitters to a paltry .168 at the plate.
Senior
Jared Kengott provided Jesuit (30-6-2) an early charge with his third home run of the season, a third-inning blast to left center field on the first pitch of the inning to get the Rangers on the board.  Fellow fourth years
Bryce Bonner and
Jared Bond drove in runs for the Blue and Gold, while junior
Mark Ready, senior
Pete Hamrick, junior
JT Mix and Muller logged one hit each.
Palisch struck out the first nine batters swinging before Kengott's moonshot in the third.  After Mix and Muller walked, a single by Hamrick loaded the bases.  Muller scored on a heads up play, scoring from second on a fielder's choice to increase the lead to two runs.  After a double steal put Bond and Hamrick in scoring position, a passed ball allowed Hamrick to score to end the third for the Rangers.
In the bottom of the fifth, Palisch walked the leadoff batter, but the following hitter grounded into a double play to eradicate the threat.  A single through the right side by Bonner score junior
Alex Lengyel in the seventh, setting the stage for Palisch.
Needing three outs for the no-hitter, Palisch struck out the first batter, and threw a 2-0 pitch to the second hitter of the inning for Highland Park.  Scots starting pitcher Adair launched a moderately high liner that seemed destined for the outfield.  However, senior
Matt Horvath laid out and made an incredible athletic play for the second out.  Palisch struck out the final batter of the contest, sending the Ranger fans into a frenzy while the junior's teammates spilled out of the dugout to celebrate the accomplishment.
Jesuit Dallas will host Highland Park on Friday, May 20 at Wright Field.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
