Jesuit closed the Frisco Tournament of Champions with a split on Saturday, defeating Lovejoy, 4-3 to avenge a loss to the Leopards at the Jesuit Baseball Classic before dropping the tournament finale, 3-0, to Plano on Saturday at Heritage High School.

Senior
Miles Okamoto secured the win on the mound against Lovejoy, moving to 2-1 on the year and striking out eight batters while allowing three runs on five hits. Senior
John Guzman logged the game-winning hit, a single to center in the bottom of the seventh that scored junior
Maccoy Lopez for the Rangers' second walk-off of the tournament.
Will Guzman went 2-for-3, driving in two runs, while senior
Mark Ready was 3-for-3 against Lovejoy, scoring twice.
Â
Will Guzman scored
Mark Ready in the fourth before Lovejoy racked up three runs in the fifth to take the lead. Jesuit tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, first on a single to right from
Will Guzman that scored Ready before sophomore
Jaden Woodson drove in junior
Bijan Kamalipour with a sacrifice fly to send the contest into the seventh knotted up at 7-7.
Â
Lovejoy left the potential go-ahead run stranded at third, and the Rangers responded with a methodical bottom of the seventh. Lopez took a 2-1 pitch through the left side for a base hit, moved into scoring position after a sacrifice bunt from senior
Alex Lengyel, then crossed the plate on
John Guzman's game-winner.
Â
Against Plano, senior
Wyatt Hasson and junior
Chris Irby struck out two batters apiece, but Jesuit was held to only one hit during the bout. Plano's first-inning offense, which saw the Wildcats plate two runs on four hits, and an insurance run in the sixth proved to be enough against the Blue and Gold, who finish the tournament with a 3-3 record.
