Jesuit Dallas senior EJ Smith has been named to the Under Armour All-America Class of 2020 roster and will compete in the 2020 Under Armour All-America game on January 2, 2020 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Smith will compete with some of the top high school student-athletes in the nation at the annual showcase and becomes the third Jesuit Dallas football player since 2000 to be named an All-American.
 
Throughout three seasons on varsity, Smith has emerged as one of the top offensive threats in school history. On the ground, the senior has racked up 2,357 career yards and has scored 46 touchdowns. Over 28 games, Smith has averaged 90.6 yards per game and six yards per carry. Smith has added 102 catches for 1,434 receiving yards and 17 receiving touchdowns.  
 
Smith began his varsity career by rushing for 1,303 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2017. Adding 43 catches for 615 yards and seven touchdowns, Smith closed out the year leading the team in scoring. Smith broke onto the scene on Sept. 30, 2016 against Richardson, when he rushed for 168 yards and five touchdowns to earn Dallas Morning News Player of the Week honors. At the conclusion of the season, Smith was named the District Newcomer of the Year, Dallas Morning News Area Newcomer of the Year, consensus All-State and MaxPreps Sophomore All-American.
 
In 2018, Smith continued his role as key offensive contributor by running for 861 yards and 12 touchdowns, adding five touchdown receptions and 498 yards through the air. This season, despite an early season injury, Smith has returned to form by scoring eight rushing touchdowns over four games with 292 yards on the ground.
 
Throughout his three seasons on the Jesuit Dallas varsity roster, Smith has emerged as one of the premier all-purpose backs in the nation. Ranked as the second-best 2020 all-purpose back in the nation according to Rivals, Smith is the No. 15 recruit in the state of Texas and is ranked inside the nation's top 100 recruits.
 
Smith joins Jake Oliver '13 and Thomas Derricks '01 as Jesuit's only two football All-Americans since 2000, becoming the 18th All-American in Jesuit Dallas football history with Friday's announcement.
