IRVING, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas football program has been named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation National High School Academic Excellence Awards, presented by the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation. The initiative honors the top academic football teams from each level of play within each state and is designed to inspire and foster a culture of academic excellence in high school football teams throughout the nation.

Jesuit's fall 2025 program included 66 student-athletes who combined to earn a 3.62 grade point average. Other notable numbers for the group included 48 honor roll recipients and 55 who are enrolled in AP and honors classes.

The Rangers went 6-6 during the 2025 season and won the program's 12th UIL Bi-District Championship in the last 15 seasons.

In the community, Jesuit continued its strong association with the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas and annual Buddy Walk. In 2025, Jesuit football players from all three levels raised over $35,000.

Eligibility requirements for the awards include: a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; superior academic application and performance; and a successful football season. Each state's high school coaches association selects their respective state's winners from a pool of nominees submitted by each school's head coaches. A national selection committee is responsible for choosing one school as the recipient of the Hatchell Cup as the best team in the nation.
