Jesuit Dallas Places Eighth at Bart Granger Memorial Tournament

10/25/2020 6:25:00 PM

The 2020-21 Jesuit Dallas golf season continued on Friday and Saturday as the Ranger varsity team finished eighth at the Bart Granger Memorial Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas. Jesuit bested several former district rivals in the annual showcase, which two place over two rounds at the River-Pecan Valley Municipal Golf Course.

Senior James Farmer led the way for the Rangers, finishing 13th overall with a total score of 148. Farmer carded a one-over par score of 73 after shooting a 75 on day one, the former of which matched senior Gordon Schmerbeck for the team's lowest round of the tournament. Schmerbeck finished the event with a total score of 151, placing 22nd following a second round 78.

Junior Oliver Naumann narrowly missed the top 25, placing 26th with a 152 following a 77 first round score and three-over 75 on the second day. Senior Max Reimer (82-79 – 161) placed 57th and sophomore AJ Adams (85-84 – 169) placed 80th to round out the Jesuit lineup.

Jesuit turned in a 612 team score to finish six strokes ahead of McKinney Boyd and nine strokes ahead of Highland Park. Former district foe Plano West won the tournament with a 525 total team score as the Rangers finished 15 strokes ahead of 13th place J.J. Pearce, the other District 7-6A representative in the tournament.

The Rangers have placed 10th or better at the annual event for four consecutive years, and this weekend's performance keeps Jesuit's run of top-10 finishes intact to start the season.

Jesuit's varsity season will continue on Wednesday, Oct. 28 when the Blue and Gold travel to Rowlett, Texas for a match hosted by the Texas Torah Institute. The Rangers have three varsity tournaments remaining on the fall season schedule, as the back-to-back appearances at the Fall Dragon Cup (Nov. 9) and Tour 18 Tournament (Nov. 10) will wrap the early portion of the 2020-21 campaign.
