Jesuit Dallas senior
Jordan Lawlar continued to raise eyebrows throughout the nation, most recently by participating in the Baseball Factory All-Star Classic in Frisco, Texas on Sunday. In a national showcase which included 10 of the top 15 high school prospects in the nation, Lawlar was named as one of the standout players by
MLB.com writer Jonathan Mayo, earning air time after ripping a triple to right center. In addition, Lawlar has worked his way to the top of the
Perfect Game Class of 2021 Top 500 National Rankings, which were last updated on Sept. 18.
Lawlar's profile has continued to rise throughout the summer and into the fall, when he was named the
Perfect Game Jackie Robinson Player of the Year. Lawlar impressed during the national showcase in Oklahoma City on Sept. 4, registering a pair of hits, a walk, an RBI and three runs scored. The Jackie Robinson Player of the Year award continued a slew of accolades given to the senior shortstop as Lawlar was named as the top prospect in the nation according to the 2021
Prep Baseball Report national rankings.
Over his two years at Jesuit, Lawlar's impact has been seismic and immediate. The senior has a .434 batting average over 36 games and has racked up 43 hits, 14 doubles, five triples and six home runs during his time playing for Jesuit. Despite seeing his sophomore season cut short due to injury, Lawlar still finished in the top 10 of the Metroplex with five home runs, adding 27 RBI. During his junior season, which was halted early due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lawlar was on pace for another stellar year with 16 hits over 12 games, five doubles, two triples and a home run.
Lawlar, who is currently a Vanderbilt verbal commit, will begin his final season at Jesuit in late February, when the Rangers are scheduled to begin the 2021 season.
