DALLAS - Jesuit Dallas battery-mates
James Jorgensen and
Roman Derichsweiler were selected to the
Dallas Morning News Baseball All-Area Team this week.
Jorgensen was named to the First Team and Derichsweiler to the Third Team.
Jorgensen finished his senior season with an 8-1 record and a 0.58 earned run average in 11 outings. The District 7-6A Most Valuable Player struck out 125 batters in 60 innings of work. He held opponents to a .105 batting average and threw two no-hitters. he didn't allow more than four hits in any of his 11 starts. At the plate, he hit .398 with right doubles, two home runs and 30 runs batted in.
Derichsweiler led the team with a .477 batting average, which included 12 doubles, one triple and a team-high 32 RBI. The junior catcher compiled a .640 slugging pct. and a .573 on-base pct. for a 1.213 on-base plus slugging (ops) number. He was also named the 7-6A Defensive Player of the Year.
Jesuit posted a 30-9-2 overall record and reached the UIL 6A Division 2 Regional Final for the third time since 2015. The Rangers went 14-0 in district play, claiming the school's tenth title since 2010.
