Jesuit's swimming and diving team dominated Bishop Lynch, opening the 2020-21 season with a resounding, 133.5-35.5 win over the Friars on Saturday at the KayCee Pool. The Rangers won every swimming event in an impressing performance, continuing a now 10-meet winning streak that dates back to late 2019. The Rangers finished the dual match with eight individual wins and a trio of relay victories, sweeping the podium in five of the 11 events.

Jackson Summers led off the event with a winning, 1:43.93 total relay time in the 200 medley relay and were followed by a 1:48.85 by the second place relay team consisting of sophomore

Bowman scored Jesuit's first individual win of the meet with a 1:57.62 in the 200 free. Senior Will McKinney, who qualified for state last year in the 200 Individual Medley, started his hopeful return journey with a victorious 1:59.79 in the 200 I.M. on Saturday, leading a sweep of the podium as

Jaden Giunta finished second and third with respective times of 2:04.50 and 2:13.61. Summers hit the wall in 23.58 to win the 50 free, as a 24.21 by Chong and 24.68 from Hung secured Jesuit's second sweep of the meet. McKinney would later earn a win in the 500 free, completing the race in 4:52.56.
Hung continued Jesuit's domination with a 56.69, first-place finish in the 100 fly as sophomore
Leonardo Pelaez (58.76) and junior
Samuel Steffler (1:04.28) finished second and third. Summers earned his second win of the meet in the 100 free, hitting the wall in 51.01 before a 52.47 by Grant and 55.27 by junior
Blake Butz capped another sweep.
James Savarese kickstarted Jesuit's final sweep with a 58.94 in the 100 back. Pelaez (1:01.45) and Giunta (1:05.87) followed suit before setting the stage for
William Savarese to score Jesuit's final individual win of the meet, a 1:02.23 in the 100 breast. Grant finished second in the event, hitting the wall in 1:08.85 before Chong capped Jesuit's individual success with a third-place tie, finishing the race in 1:10.52.
Jesuit's 200 free relay team of Hung, Butz, Chong and Pelaez clocked a 1:36.60 total relay time for the Rangers' second relay win of the day.
James Savarese, Grant, Summers and Will McKinney ended the meet with a win in the 400 free relay, securing a 3:25.51 total relay time to win the final event by over four seconds.
The Rangers will return to KayCee Pool on Saturday, Sept. 26 for their first tri-meet of the season. Jesuit will square off against Plano East and Plano H.S. at 10:15 on Saturday in a showdown which will see Jesuit attempt to capture its third straight win over the Panthers following last season's 85-78 triumph on Sept. 17, 2019. The Rangers and Wildcats tied, 50-50, in the last meeting between the teams on Oct. 11, 2018.
