DALLAS - The Jesuit Swimming and Diving team started hot and stayed hot en route to winning its third-consecutive and eighth district title in the last 12 years at the David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center on Friday night.
The Rangers put on an impressive show in their home pool, scoring 244 points to outdistance J.J. Pearce (142) by more than 100 points.
Junior
Jonah Ruhl was named the top male performer of the meet as he won the 200 individual medley, the 100 freestyle, and was part of winning relays in the 200 and 400 free relays.
Senior
Sam Kennington proved to be the fastest man in the pool, out-touching classmate
Luke Lary by seven-tenths of a second to win in the 50 free.
With the top six finishers in each individual event advancing to next week's Region II meet, Jesuit pushed the maximum four into the top six in seven of the eight swimming events, three in the other event and two in the 1-meter diving competition. All three Ranger relay squads won their event. Jesuit will take 20 qualifiers to the championships.
Head coach
Doug Moyse was named the Swimming Coach of the Meet and Sierra Thain was also voted by her peers as the Diving Coach of the Meet. For Moyse, its his 10th honor in 12 seasons and the third for Thain in her three years at JCP.
The Rangers will now turn their attention to the Region II-6A Championships, which are scheduled to take place on Feb. 4 (diving) and Feb. 6-7 (swimming prelims & finals) at the LISD Westside Aquatic Center in Lewisville, Texas.
