AUSTIN, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas swimming & diving team scored 118 points to tie for fifth place at the 2026 UIL 6A State Championships at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on Saturday.

The fifth place finish ties the highest by a JCP team during its UIL era (2004-present), joining the 2015 squad. The 118 points are the most in the same span, surpassing the 97 from that same 2015 group.

Junior Jonah Ruhl got things going with a 1:48.94 in the 200 individual medley to finish fourth.

In the next event, senior Sam Kennington broke the school-record in the 50 freestyle with a 20.75, placing him fifth in the state.

In the 100 butterfly, senior Luke Lary continued to lower his school-record, touching the wall in 48.73 to register a third-place effort.

In the final individual race for the Rangers, Ruhl won silver in the 100 free with a 44.58 - another school record for the Blue and Gold.

With two events remaining for the Rangers, they turned their attention to the 200 free relay. The quartet of Kennington, Lary, senior Sebastian Suwanda and Ruhl swam to a Jesuit record 1:23.57 and second place in the event. The 34 team points scored in the race, vaulted Jesuit into first place in the team standings with 96 points. The tight race saw all eight teams separated by just 1.49 seconds.

Despite being overtaken in the standings over the next three events, Jesuit entered the final race knowing a clean race would put them into a top-5 finish. The group of Lary, Kennington, sophomore Porter Pope and Ruhl finished in 3:07.58 and scored 22 points for the fifth place total of 118.

Lewisville Marcus won the team title with 148 points, just ahead of Strake Jesuit with 135. Southlake Carroll was third with 121 points, followed by The Woodlands at 120. The Rangers tied with San Antonio Reagan and Humble Kingwood for fifth. Houston Memorial was eighth with 101.
