The historic 2010 Jesuit Dallas soccer team, which captured the program's first University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Championship, were highlighted by
Top Drawer Soccer as one of the top High School Boys Teams of the Decade. Jesuit Dallas, who closed an unbeaten season as the top-ranked team in the nation, closed a 25-0-0 season by becoming the first private school in the history of the UIL to capture a state title.
Jesuit Dallas dominated opponents throughout the 2010 season, posting 16 shutouts, including clean sheets in the state semifinal and championship game. Overall, the Rangers finished the season outscoring opponents, 67-7 and opened the year with seven consecutive shutouts before closing out the season by shutting out their final six district opponents. A 4-1 win over Coppell started the team's playoff run as Jesuit punched its ticket to the regional tournament with a 2-1 win over Flower Mound Marcus.
The Rangers earned their second trip to the state tournament with a pair of 2-1 decisions over El Paso Cornado and El Paso Belaire. A 4-0 shutout of Austin Westlake set the stage for a matchup worthy of the state championship stage; Jesuit Dallas and Strake Jesuit, the only two private schools in the UIL, facing off for the right to be named the first private school to win a state title in the long-standing public school league.
After 100 minutes of scoreless action between regulation and overtime, the game moved to penalty kicks to determine the state champion. Shootout goals were scored by Hansel Reyes '10 and David Reilly '12, but Ryan Aubrey '10 emerged as the star of the shootout by holding the Crusaders without a goal in the game-deciding shootout. Aubrey, who attended the University of Buffalo following his graduation from Jesuit, was named the Most Valuable Player of the championship game.
Jesuit Dallas ended the historic 2010 season ranked atop the
ESPN Rise and
Top Drawer Soccer National Winter Rankings. The team additionally included several players bound to compete at the Division I level, as Kingsley Bryce '10 (Saint Louis University), Mark Daus '10 (Santa Clara), Trey Rayfield '10 (Tulsa) and Christian Garcia-Mendez '10 (Davidson) proved to be major role players for the Blue and Gold. Bryce was drafted by the Chicago Fire in the 2015 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft after playing 80 games for the Billikens, and Daus played on the Portland Timbers U-23 team prior to his senior season at Santa Clara.
The Rangers' 2010 state title was the first of two during the last decade as the Jesuit Dallas soccer program captured it's second the UIL State Championship in 2017.
