Jesuit senior
Ryan Shea scored for the second straight game as Jesuit saw its two-game shutout streak end, but the Rangers were able to close the non-district portion of the schedule with a 4-1-1 record following a 1-1 tie with Sachse on Tuesday at Postell Stadium.
Shea's third tally of the year came off of an assist by junior
Arnold Perez-Valenzuela, who launched a ball into the box and found Shea close to the goal line. Shea nearly capitalized on another run towards the goal in the second half, but his shot misesed the far post by inches and kept the game square with 28 minutes remaining.
Sophomore
Cole Hines racked up two saves in the net as the Rangers wrapped the game with seven shots on target. Jesuit earned nine corner kick attempts, including two over the final three minutes of regulation, but were unable to cash in on the opportunities before the horn sounded.
The Rangers will enter district play on Tuesday, Jan. 26 when the Blue and Gold host J.J. Pearce at Postell Stadium. Jesuit hopes to snap a three-game skid to the Mustangs on Tuesday, as Jesuit's last win over Pearce came on Feb. 3, 2017, when former standout
Ethan Moore '17 scored two goals for a Ranger team that would ultimately capture the team's second University Interscholastic League (UIL) state title. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. at Postell Stadium.
