Area Round By the Numbers:

3: Over the last five games of the season, Jesuit Dallas has only yielded three red zone opportunities to opponents. Arlington only entered the red zone twice in the bi-district round, scoring one passing and one rushing touchdown. By comparison, Jesuit had five red zone trips last Friday, all resulting in touchdowns.

4: Arlington went 3-for-6 on fourth down conversion attempts on Friday, and the three turnover on downs all led to Jesuit touchdowns. The key turnover came in the third quarter, when senior Walker Houdek broke up a deep fourth-down pass after Arlington established momentum with a touchdown and recovered onside kick.

6: Jesuit recorded six tackles for loss against Arlington, including a pair of sacks recorded by junior Ford Buckner. The Arlington offense, which came into the game averaging 208.3 rushing yards per game, was held to only 126 yards against the Rangers.

11: Jesuit Dallas head coach Brandon Hickman picked up his 11th playoff victory on Friday, and his fourth over the last three seasons. The Rangers have won seven of their last eight playoff games at Postell Stadium, rebounding from last year's setback in the bi-district round with Friday's win.

14: The Ranger defense has picked up 14 sacks during their nine-game winning streak, and have picked up 41 tackles for loss during that stretch. The Rangers have added 12 forced turnovers (five interceptions, seven fumble recoveries).

47: Jesuit Dallas enters the area round with a 46.9 conversion percentage (60-of-128) on third downs, and have held opponents to 38.5 percent (47-of-122) success rate. The Rangers have converted over 50 percent of their third down attempts in five of their last six games, including a 3-for-4 clip (75 percent) against Arlington.

Scouting the Wildcats

Guyer Cruises Past Jaguars: The Wildcats opened Friday's bi-district game against Flower Mound with 31 unanswered points, advancing to the second round with a 34-14 win at C.H. Collins Stadium in Denton. The Guyer defense ruled the day, intercepting Florida commit Nick Evers five times and holding the Jaguars to 275 total yards of offense. Sophomore Eli Bowen secured three of the team's five interceptions, scoring a 39-yard interception touchdown return in the second quarter en route to being named the Dallas Morning News Defensive Player of the Week. Junior quarterback Jackson Arnold completed 20-of-27 passes for 294 yards and two touchdowns.

Recent Run of Success: Denton Guyer has advanced to the state semifinals in two consecutive seasons, reaching the state title game in 2019 before bowing out to Cedar Hill in last year's Division II-6A semifinal. The Wildcats have a pair of state champions during their program's history, accomplishing the feat in 2012 and 2013.

Return in Sight: With only varsity snap under his belt prior to the game, junior quarterback Jackson Arnold was inserted into the 2019 UIL Division II-6A state title game against Westlake after long-time starter Eli Stowers, now at Texas A&M, was injured on the Wildcats' opening drive. Guyer would drop that game to Westlake, 24-0, but it signaled the start of a career for a now four-star prospect that is the No. 9 QB in the 247Sports national rankings. Arnold has 2,641 yards, 21 touchdowns and four interceptions this season, and currently has offers from 17 schools, including Arkansas, Notre Dame and Ole Miss.
