A fourth-place finish from
Dolen Hedrick highlighted a strong performance by the Jesuit Dallas wrestling program at the 54th Annual Lonestar Christmas Open, held on Dec. 16 at St. Mark's School of Texas.
Hedrick finished the tournament with five victories, four coming via pin fall and the final a 9-1 major decision that vaulted the junior into the third-place match. Hedrick earned a spot in the championship quarterfinal following pin falls wins over South Oak Cliff and the hosting Lions. After falling into the consolation bracket, the junior punched his ticket to the third-place match with back-to-back pin falls against North Mesquite and All Saints before the major decision victory in the consolation semifinal.
Alex Lizardi added five victories, earning five pin fall wins during his run in the 132-pound bracket. Lizardi began his run with a win over Lone Star and, after dropping into the consolation bracket racked up four straight pin fall victories to earn a spot in the consolation semifinal.
Oliver Collins fought his way to the championship quarterfinal, wrapping up the tournament with four victories.
Matt Dietsch earned two wins at the 144-pound bracket, both coming in the championship bracket at Dietsch advanced to the championship quarterfinal.
Kingston Stephens picked up a win at 106 pounds to wrap Jesuit's strong run at the tournament. Jesuit Dallas placed 15th overall at the event, racking up 57 total points.
Jesuit Dallas will break for the holiday season before returning to Walsh Gym for the penultimate dual meet of the season against Woodrow Wilson on Jan. 4. The Rangers will return to tournament play on Jan. 7, when Jesuit will travel to Azle for The Nest Invitational.
