Front-Court Fortitude Pushes Jesuit Past Emerson

Jesuit Dallas scored 40 points in the paint, 26 points off of 23 turnovers and 14 second chance points on Friday en route to a 68-50 win over Frisco Emerson. The win provides the Rangers with their 11th victory of the year ahead of a return to district play on Tuesday, Dec. 20 against MacArthur.

Sophomore Caleb Steger led the team in scoring (14), rebounding (7) and assists (4), finishing the contest converting 6-of-6 attempts from the free-throw line. Junior Justin Kemp added 10 points as seniors Tai Kryger, Michael Mathie and Charlie Needham scored nine points apiece. Senior Dylan Gibbons tacked on seven points with two assists and a steal, junior Hank Gramlich secured six points and senior Hampton Aldridge scored four points to complete the Rangers' scoring line.

Jesuit shot 46.4 percent from the floor and converted 11-of-13 free-throws as a team while only turning the ball over on eight occasions and yielding six free throw attempts to the Mavericks.

The Rangers will welcome a Cardinals team that split a pair of district games last week, upending Nimitz, 47-45 behind 10 points and 12 rebounds from Josiah Hill before dropping a bout to Richardson. Tip-off on Tuesday is set for 7 p.m.
