PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Jesuit and Martin Meet Again in UIL Bi-District Round

• Jesuit Dallas enters the 2022 postseason as the No. 3 seed out of District 7-6A, securing a 10-4 district record and finishing the regular season with a 16-13 record. The Rangers' offense is propelled by a pair of double-digit scorers as seniors Ryan McCormick (12.3 ppg) and Ben Johnson (10.9 ppg) have helped the team average 57.5 points per game. McCormick also leads the Rangers with seven rebounds per game while senior forwards Will Mansour and Grant Kostos tack on 4.3 and 4.1 rebounds per game, respectively. The Rangers closed out the season with a 33.4 clip from behind the arc, led by a 39 percent conversion rate (64-of-164) by senior Sky Tschurr. Junior Dylan Gibbons finished the season ranked among the Metroplex leaders with 108 assists, and also led th team with 37 steams on the season. The 2022 postseason marks the 13th time in the last 14 seasons that the Rangers have reached the playoffs, as the Rangers return to the postseason after reaching the UIL Region I-6A final last season.

• Arlington Martin wrapped the 2021-22 regular season ranked eighth in the area, 17th in the state, and enters Tuesday's playoff game as the No. 2 seed in District 8-6A after winning nine of its last 10 games. The Warriors have qualified for the playoffs in 11 straight seasons, and reached the regional semifinals in 2016. Junior guard Cody Stevens is the Warriors' leading scorer, averaging 10 points per game shooting 45.5 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from three-point range and 81.1 percent from the free-throw line. Junior guard Ismael Smith Flores averages 8.3 points per game and a team-leading 5.6 rebounds per game.

• Tuesday's contest is a rematch of last year's bi-district round, which Jesuit won, 76-64. Tonight marks the third time that the Rangers and Warriors have met in the postseason, as Martin won the first playoff showdown between the two teams, 60-55, in 2008.

• The winner of Tuesday's area round matchup will take on state-ranked No. 12 Denton Guyer or Lewisville in the UIL Region I-6A area round. The Wildcats and Farmers will square off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Lake Dallas H.S.
