Saturday Sweep Sends Jesuit Into District Play On Seven-Game Win Streak

Jesuit Dallas closed the 2022 Frisco Tournament of Champions unbeaten following a pair of wins on Saturday at Reedy H.S. The Rangers scored an 8-4, comeback win over McKinney North in the first game before securing a 6-2 win over Houston Memorial to secure their seventh straight win ahead of Tuesday's district opener against Pearce.

Junior Weston Okamoto went 4-for-4 with four RBI during the double header, including three RBI against McKinney North. Senior Jake Storey ripped a pair of doubles, driving in a run as junior Callen Singhania recorded a double of his own, finishing the game with a two-hit performance. Freshman Jake Fults struck out three in his second start of the season as junior Dominic Migliore earned his first win of the season with 1.2 innings of three-hit shutout work. Junior Nick Barber and senior Cash Riley additionally scattered two hits apiece as Riley added two stolen bases including a steal of home in the sixth.

Against Memorial, junior Jack Barr picked up his first win of the season with a complete game, striking out seven batters over the seven innings of work, only allowing one walk and two runs on six hits. Jesuit scored five runs in the bottom of the third, with Storey opening the scoring after a hit by pitch with the bases loaded. Migliore sent a single up the middle to score Fults and senior Myles Tucker before Singhania launched a triple into the gap in left center to cap the inning. Okamoto would add his fourth RBI of the day as a pinch hitter in the fourth, driving home junior Preston Payne to give the Rangers a six-run lead.

Jesuit will now enter district play and take on J.J. Pearce in a two-game series that begins on Tuesday in Richardson. The Mustangs head into the opener on a three-game winning streak and five-game unbeaten streak, most recently sweeping Pilot Point, 11-0 and Hillcrest, 16-4 on Mar. 12 at Mustang Ballpark. First pitch for Tuesday is set for 7 p.m. before the series returns to Wright Field on Thursday, Mar. 17.
