The University Interscholastic League (UIL) era began on Friday, Sept. 2 for the Jesuit Dallas water polo team, as the team's District 2-6A schedule began with the Rangers traveling to the Carroll ISD Natatorium to battle Southlake Carroll. The Rangers would drop a 22-9 decision to the Dragons, and will enter their home district opener against Hebron, set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, with a 6-6 overall record.
Junior Jonathan Schwetz led the way with four goals on the evening, followed by two goals from junior
Dominic Arra along with goals from juniors Ben Eppich,
Cole Kostos and
Theodore Scherer. In goal, junior
Macklin Frary recorded 10 saves. Jesuit Dallas trailed Southlake by three goals following the first quarter, but a 6-2 advantage in the second gave the Dragons an 11-4 lead at the halftime break. Jesuit would score five goals in the fourth quarter to cut into the Southlake lead, but the 17-6 lead after three quarters proved too much to overcome for the Blue and Gold.
Jesuit will host Hebron at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and continue the district season on Friday, Sept. 9 when the Rangers return to the road to battle Flower Mound in Lewisville. The week will conclude with a quad meet on Saturday, as Jesuit will take on Rockwall, John Paul II and Rockwall Heath on Saturday morning at the David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center. The rematch between Jesuit and Southlake is set for Tuesday, Sept. 20 at The Gull.
