Five members of the Jesuit Dallas wrestling program scored victories as Jesuit Dallas closed its dual meet slate for the 2022-23 season with a 48-33 setback to Frisco Centennial on Thrusday.
Jesuit's first win came in dramatic fashion, as freshman Kingston Stephens earned a sudden victory, 6-4 after battling through a hard-fought match with Centennial's Damien Padilla. The Rangers' first pin fall win of the evening was scored by
Alex Lizardi, who picked up the win over Zayaan Ladiwalla with 17 seconds remaining in the first period to award Jesuit its first six-point score of the meet.
Nicholas Westerheide, competing in his first varsity dual meet, secured his fourth varsity win of the year with a 12-7 decision.
Oliver Collins, who earned silver medalist honors last week at The Nest Invitational in Azle, Texas, kept his momentum intact with a second period pin fall. Senior
Jackson Chesney shut out Diego Reyes Mercado with a 6-0 decision for Jesuit's final head-to-head victory of the night. Jake Daboub and
Dolen Hedrick wrapped Jesuit's scoring with forefit victories.
Jesuit Dallas will next return to campus for the 2023 Frank Halloran Ranger Classic. The annual wrestling showcase is set to take place on Jan. 20-21 on nine mats that will span Walsh Gym, the Practice Gym and the Terry Center. Action is set to start at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20 and will continue at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21.
