Senior
Jason Ogbolu secured goals in the 19th and 54th minutes, but a late equalizer from Nimitz sent the Rangers to a 4-4 tie on Jan. 20 at Ranger Stadium. Additional goals were scored by
Erwin Ordaz and
Noah McGough as Jesuit secured its first tie of the district season.
Ogbolu's first goal of the game came on a feed from
William Garner and Ordaz, as a quick one-touch pass found Garner, who crossed it to the top of the box for a header by Ogbolu that hit the back of the net. The Vikings built a 3-1 lead before McGough scored on Ordaz's second assist of a game, slotting home a free kick from 35 yards out to bring the Rangers to within one goal.
Ordaz would score early in the second after Jesuit drew a penalty kick less than two minutes into the stanza. The senior would notch his second goal of the season to tie the game, 3-3. Ogbolu would head home a long lofting cross from
Matthew Sucato to give Jesuit the lead, but Nimitz tied the contest with 8:20 left in regulation, leading to the final tie.
In the contest, Nimitz out-shot Jesuit, 16-8, but committed 15 fouls. Jesuit withstood seven corner kicks from the Vikings as senior goalkeeper
Christian Rodriguez recorded six saves.
Jesuit will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 24 against MacArthur. Kick-off is set for 7:15 p.m.
