Jesuit Dallas Splits First Day at Lone Star Classic

Jesuit Dallas began the Frisco Lone Star Classic by splitting their first two games at the annual showcase, scoring a 68-60 win over Little Elm before suffering their first loss of the season with a 65-64 set-back to state-ranked Argyle (5A).

Jesuit's fourth victory of the season came in a hard-fought battle against Little Elm. The Rangers were led by senior Will Bronson, who scored 22 points to lead the team while tying junior Michael Grant for the team lead with seven rebounds. Junior Caleb Steger scored 18 points for the Rangers, burying a pair of three-pointers while picking up two steals, three assists and three rebounds. Senior Hank Gramlich notched a team-high five assists to aid the team while Grant and Bronson each secured a block.

The Rangers fell one point short of toppling a state-ranked Argyle team, rallying from a 15-point deficit with 3:39 left in the third to have the ball with a chance to win the game. Steger erupted for 27 points in the win, followed by 17 points from senior Will Bronson. Jesuit scored 30 points in the paint, seven points off of Argyle turnovers and 15 second chance points off of 18 offensive rebounds, but Argyle shot 43.9 percent from the floor while both teams were able to avoid turnovers, as Jesuit only committed eight turnovers, while Argyle committed nine.

Jesuit will return to Lone Star H.S. on Tuesday, Nov. 21 for the second day of the Lone Star Classic. The Rangers' first game of the day will take place at 10:30 a.m. as the Rangers battle Frisco Heritage, and the tournament run will conclude at 4:30 p.m. when Jesuit faces OKC Storm.
