2/28/2023 5:12:00 PM

The Jesuit Dallas golf team competed among the best programs in Texas and finished the 2023 State Preview Tournament with the best finish in program history on Feb. 27 at Legacy Hills Golf Course in Georgetown, Texas. The Rangers competed during an exhaustive day, finishing out the 36-hole tournament that spanned 10 hours in second place with an impressive slew of performances.

Senior AJ Adams won medalist honors with a 141 total score, following an even-par 72 with a three-under 69 to capture the win by one stroke over Westlake's Grant Yerger. Adams' second round was one of three sub-par rounds on the day for the Rangers as Max Chan and Jack Clancy shot equal two-under 70's during the second round. Clancy would add a three-over 75 to finish the tournament with a 145 for Jesuit's second-lowest round of the tournament, followed by a 148 (78-70) from Chan.

Jesuit's lineup was completed with a 155 from Nicholas Norris (81-74) and a 157 from Reese Roberts (81-76). Jesuit finished three strokes behind tournament champion Westlake, but the Rangers' 589 total team score was seven strokes clear of third place The Woodlands, which ere the only three programs to finish the tournament under 600 team strokes. Additional teams entered in this tournament included state contenders College Park, Coppell, Hebron, Mansfield, Marcus, McKinney Boyd, Midway, Lake Travis, San Antonio Johnson, Southlake Carroll, Westwood and Vandegrift.

The Rangers will next compete at the Jesuit Dallas Invitational Tournament, set for Monday, Mar. 6 at Brookhaven Country Club. The annual Jesuit Dallas-hosted showcase will see the varsity and junior varsity teams in action as a full field is expected at one of the most anticipated tournaments of the year in the Metroplex.
