Rangers Race into Area Round Following Dominant, Series-Clinching Win

The Jesuit Dallas bats came alive on Friday evening, scattering 12 hits en route to a 16-4 win over Arlington Lamar at Wright Field. The victory provides Jesuit with a two-game sweep of the Vikings and propels the Blue and Gold into a University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region I-6A Area Round showdown against state-ranked No. 4 Hebron.

Freshman James Jorgensen erupted for four RBI on a 4-for-4 day from the plate, launching a home run during a nine-run third inning for Jesuit. In total, seven of the Rangers' nine hitters in the lineup secured at least one hit, as seniors Nick Barber and Dominic Migliore each picked up two hits apiece, with Barber adding two RBI. Senior Jonah Timmons and sophomore Jake Fults each drove in a run, while the Rangers' one-through-three hitters of freshman Braxton Barber, senior Nick Barber and Fults scored three runs apiece.

Sophomore Dillon Brandt limited the Vikings to four runs (one earned) on three hits over five innings en route to securing his seventh win of the season, striking out six Lamar batters en route to the win. Lamar scored one run in the top of the first, but Jesuit struck back with three in the bottom of the inning. After the Vikings tied up the bout, 3-3, in the top of the third, Jesuit put the game out of reach with a nine-run third to make the lead 12-3 before a four-run fourth put Jesuit in position to clinch the matchup via run rule with a 16-4 lead.

Jesuit will now turn its attention to Hebron, who won its bi-district series in three games with a 15-2 victory over Little Elm on Saturday. Hebron enters the matchup with a 28-8 record, recently clinching the District 6-6A Championship with a 12-2 record in district. The series will begin on Thursday, May 11 at Jesuit Dallas, with the first pitch set for 7 p.m. at Wright Field. On Friday, May 12, the series will shift to Hebron H.S. for a 7 p.m. first pitch, and a potential third game will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, May 13 (Time TBD) at Horner Ballpark on the campus of Dallas Baptist University.
