Jesuit Dallas held its annual intrasquad meet with Ursuline on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center. The Rangers pieced together several strong times in the pool prior to the brunt of the season beginning in mid-October with the team's impending home meet against Coppell.
The event began with the mixed 200-yard medley relay, which was won by the team of
William Savarese,
Jaden Giunta along with Ursuline's Ariana Burlingame and Natalie Estrada. The foursome swam a 1:48.34 total relay time to earn the first win of the meet. Savarese tacked on a victorious, 1:43.78 in the 200 free, followed by a 2:07.12 by sophomore
Sebastian Suwanda in the 200 I.M. Suwanda also won the 500 free with a 5:00.29 and was one of three Rangers to pick up two wins. Savarese recorded a second win in the event with a 59.43 in the 100 breast, and junior
Sam Kennington scored wins in the 50 free (22.30) and 100 free (51.00), junior
Flyn Hughes swam a 55.14 in the 100 fly to secure a win at the event.
Senior
Thatch Balady recorded a 208.95 to win the one-meter diving event. The team of freshman
Drew Shippey, Kennington, sophomore
Jihaad Houston and Suwanda won the 200 free relay (1:37.34), and the group of freshman
Jonah Ruhl, Suwanda, Kennington and sophomore
Luke Lary won the 400 free relay with a 3:24.37. Ruhl secured the team's final individual victory with a 55.59 in the 100 back.
The 2023-24 season will continue Tuesday, Oct. 17 when the Rangers take on Coppell. First swim is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center.
