The Rangers battled back-and-forth with district-leading Richardson on Friday night, but fell one point short of handing the Eagles their first district loss of the season as Richardson defeated Jesuit, 59-58, at Walsh Gym. Jesuit trailed Richardson by 16 points with 6:58 remaining in the third quarter, but a 23-7 run put the Rangers back into the match-up in front of a passionate and energetic home crowd.

Tre Mergerson erupted for 21 points, helping spark the Jesuit Dallas run by scoring 12 of the team's 23 points during the game-tying run. Mergerson went 7-of-12 from the floor, 3-of-3 from three-point range, and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Junior
Caleb Steger added a team-high seven rebounds along with 15 points, junior
Michael Grant added nine points, senior
Hank Gramlich scored seven points and senior
Justin Kemp scored five points. Kemp and Steger picked up two steals each while Grant led the team with six assists.
Jesuit Dallas will return to Walsh Gym on Tuesday, Jan. 16 when the Rangers continue a five-game home stand against MacArthur. The Rangers will look to complete the sweep over the Cardinals as Jesuit defeated MacArthur, 68-47, on Dec. 19. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on Jan. 16.
