Following a successful senior night, Jesuit Dallas participated in its penultimate regular season tournament of the 2023-24 season with a 10th place finish at the 2024 Cougar Classic, hosted by The Colony H.S. on January 13.
Sophomore
Kingston Stephens posted the team's top finish of the tournament, finishing second in the 106-pound division. Stephens' run started with a 15-second pin fall victory over Frisco's Nicholas Ford, followed by a dominant, 20-4, technical fall win over Bilal Habib from Plano East. Senior
Oliver Collins finished third at 157 pounds, finishing with five wins during his tournament run. After suffering a setback in the first round, Collins rattled off five consecutive wins, the first four via pin fall before an 11-7 decision over Samuel's Emmanuel Perez in the third-place match.
Sophomore
Luke Bloodworth won three matches and finished fourth overall in the 190 pound bracket, senior
Pablo Lopez added two wins at 144 pounds, and the tandem of sophomore
Trevor Leap, junior Jake Daboub, senior
Spencer Broussard and senior
Nicholas Westerheide picked up one win apiece.
Overall, Jesuit finished the tournament with 69.5 points to finish 10th overall. Frisco Lone Star won the tournament championship with 152.5 points.
The Rangers will return Walsh Gym to host the 2024 Frank Halloran Memorial Ranger Classic, set for January 19-20. The tournament field will include numerous programs from several states and serves as one of the top tournaments in North Texas. The Rangers' final action prior to district will take place in Wednesday, January 24 when the Blue and Gold host Bishop Lynch at 6:30 p.m.
