The Jesuit Dallas swimming and diving team maintained its unbeaten record with a pair of district dual meet victories over the weekend, upending JJ Pearce, 105-51 on Friday before securing a 113-43 win over Highland Park on Saturday. With the wins, Jesuit heads into a senior night showdown against Wakeland and Heritage with an 8-0 record and will look to secure an unbeaten regular season in the 2023-24 home finale.
Against Pearce, Jesuit won six individual event and swept the three relay races. In the mixed 200 free relay, Jesuit's
Sam Kennington and
Sebastian Suwanda teamed up with Ursuline's Natalie Estrada and Caroline Rippel for a 1:37.46 total relay time. The Rangers' quartet of
Jonah Ruhl,
William Savarese,
Luke Lary and Kennington opened the meet with a 1:39.76 to win the 200 medley relay before Ruhl, Suwanda, Lary and Savarese combined for a 3:19.20 to win the 400 free relay. Savarese would capture two wins of his own, picking up victories in the 200 free (1:42.62) and the 100 fly (51.55), Ruhl added a win in the 200 I.M. (2:01.20), Suwanda captured the win in the 500 free (5:01.37) and Ruhl landed atop the podium in the 100 back (55.61).
Grant Wilton earned Jesuit's final individual win of the day with a 1:07.00 in the 100 breast.
The Rangers swept Highland Park, earning victories in all 11 events contested at the event. Jesuit won the 200 medley relay with a total relay time of 1:37.54 as Ruhl, Savarese, Lary and Kennington hit the water for the Blue and Gold. Savarese kept his momentum intact with two more victories, scoring a win in the 200 I.M. (1:51.72) along with a victory in the 100 breast (57.55). Lary additionally won two events with victories in the 100 fly (54.29) and 500 free (5:06.86).
Ruhl (1:46.31) and Suwanda (49.66) won the 200 and 100 free, respectively while Kennington tied for the victory in the 50 free (23.15).
Flyn Hughes completed the sweep in the individual races with a 57.92 in the 100 back. In the mixed 200 free relay, Kennington and Suwanda raced alongside Rippel and Ariana Burlingame, scoring the win with a 1:38.26. Ruhl, Suwanda, Lary and Savarese capped the dominant performance with a 3:18.58 to win the 400 free relay.
Jesuit will return to The Gull on Thursday, January 11, when the Rangers will host Frisco Wakeland and Frisco Heritage at 6 p.m. The tri-match will double as senior night for the Jesuit Dallas swimming and diving team.
