The Jesuit Dallas water polo team secured the second playoff victory in program history on Monday, upending Garland, 23-1 at the David S. Segal Family Aquatic Center. With the win, Jesuit advances to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region I-6A Area Round, where they will square off against reigning UIL 6A State Champion Flower Mound Marcus on Oct. 10 at the Lewisville ISD Eastside Natatorium in The Colony.

Hughes erupted for a career-high seven assists on the night as Lazar added four assists to the team total. Adee led the team with three steals, followed by two swipes from Lazar and Matthews alongside steals from senior
Jackson Powell and freshman
Tamer Nino.

In goal, junior
Cayden Bartusek blanked the Owls in the first quarter, making a save and earning the win. Powell took over in goal for the final three quarters, making two saves and stifling the Garland offense.

Jesuit will match up against a Marcus team that opened its playoff run with an 18-6 win over Denton H.S. on Monday evening. The Marauders are the top-ranked team in the state according toÂ
MaxPreps and are ranked fifth in the nation heading into Thursday's matchup. This season, Marcus is 18-0 and dominated District 2-6A with a 10-0 record, averaging 18.7 goals per game during league play while only allowing 8.9 goals per game.
