Six members of the Jesuit Dallas wrestling program are headed to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region 2-6A Championships following a strong performance at the 2024 UIL District 5-6A Championships, held on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at Rockwall-Heath High School.
Sophomore
Kingston Stephens won a district championship at 106 pounds with a three-win run through the district tournament bracket. Stephens began his run with a pin fall win over Paul Graham (J.J. Pearce) before a second-period pin fall over Highland Park's Jaden Taylor to earn his way to the final. In the championship match against Heath's Jack Roland, Stephens fought his way to a 5-1 decision to claim the gold and berth in at regionals.
Senior
Oliver Collins and sophomore
Luke Bloodworth won bronze medals, as Collins finished third in the 157-pound bracket and Bloodworth excelled at 190 pounds. Collins advanced to the semifinal with a win over Pearce's Alexis Gomez, rebounding from a loss in the championship semifinal to earn his way to the third-place match with a first period pin of Heath's Brady Seleznoff. Collins finished his medal-winning run with another first period pin, earning the win over Highland Park's Fulton Tucker. Bloodworth earned his bronze with a pair of pin falls and a decision, capping a 3-1 day on the mat with an 8-4 win over Smaran Kunjappa (Pearce) in the third-place match.

Pablo Lopez and sophomore
Alex Shomin earned fourth place finishes and subsequent berths at regionals, as all three wrestlers won two matches apiece en route to the fourth-place finishes. Junior
Owen White placed fifth in the 113-pound bracket while junior
Jacob Daboub also placed fifth. Sophomore
Dash Llana and senior
Nicholas Westerheide each placed sixth to score for the Rangers to wrap the team's scoring.
Jesuit finished the tournament with 127 total points, closing out the tournament 34 points ahead of sixth place J.J. Pearce. The Rangers who qualified for the next stop on the march to state will travel to Allen for the two-day tournament, which will start at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9 before continuing on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m.
