Jesuit Dallas pushed District 5-6A Champion Allen, a program ranked sixth in the state according to
MaxPreps and ninth in the nation according to
United Soccer Coaches, to the limit in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region I-6A Area Round on Friday. The Rangers would ultimately fall to the Eagles, 4-2, in penalty kicks following a 1-1 tie during regulation and overtime.
Sophomore
Cooper McGough scored the Rangers' goal with 9:30 remaining in the second half, blasting home an assist from junior
Clyde Araiza for the equalizer after Allen scored early in the first half. Senior
Caleb Fisher launched a team-high six shot attempts, narrowly finding the back of the net in the first half, while senior
Matthew Sucato tacked on three shots, followed by a pair of attempts from senior
Jack Bradshaw.
Senior
Reid McMillan was a major difference maker in goal, making eight saves during the game. Late in the second half, an Allen shot nearly got past the Rangers' defense, but senior
George Horvat made a defensive save, clearing the ball off the line to keep the game tied, 1-1. In the shootout, Allen stopped Jesuit's first and fourth penalty attempts, while the Eagles went 4-0 in their attempts to clinch the victory.
The Rangers finish the year with a 15-4-3 record, placing third in District 7-6A with a 10-3-3 record. Jesuit began the year by winning the 2024 Jesuit-Meintser Soccer Invitational and earned a bi-district championship with a 1-0 victory over South Grand Prairie on Monday.
