DALLAS - The Jesuit Dallas football team went back and forth with Richardson before falling 28-27 at Ranger Stadium on Thursday night.
Richardson scored twice in the final 7:14, including the game-winning score on a 41-yard touchdown pass from Lucas Sawyer to Jacob Watson with 38 seconds remaining.
Jesuit (3-5, 3-2 District 7-6A) finished with 340 yards of total offense and got three turnovers from its defense and blocked a punt. Beck Berry was 22-for-37 with 222 yards and three touchdowns. All three scores went to different players as Harlan Beucler, Ty Daboub and Corson Lindley found the end zone for the Rangers. Cooper McGough made two field goals of 20 and 34 yards. His 34-yarder put Jesuit ahead 27-14 with 9:41 in the game.
Gabriel James, who had a career-high 13 tackles at Richardson last year, made a season-high 12 tackles on Thursday with two sacks, a forced fumble and a pass break-up.
Richardson (5-2, 4-1) was led by Sawyer's 381 passing yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. Dameon Crowe led all players with 144 receiving yards on six receptions and two touchdowns. Watson had five catches for 104 yards. Running back Zach Breazeale carried the ball 22 times for 127 yards.
After McGough's 20-yarder made it 3-0 Jesuit following an interception, Richardson went ahead 14-0 on two Sawyer passing touchdowns. The Rangers then scored the next 24 points on the three passing scores and the field goal.
The Eagles pulled to within six on a score with 7:14 left and took a 28-27 lead on a 41-yard pass from Sawyer to Crowe with 38 seconds left. The Rangers drove into Eagle territory and took a final shot to the end zone bu JP Livingstone's pass was off target.
Jesuit will play its next two games on the road, beginning next Friday, Oct. 31 at Berkner (5-2, 4-1). Kickoff at Wildcat-Ram Stadium will be at 7 p.m.
