Shane Parker rushed for 167 yards and
Ty Daboub ran three scores in as Jesuit Dallas played trick or treat in a 45-28 victory over Berkner at Wildcat-Ram Stadium on Friday.
Jesuit improved to 4-5 overall and 4-2 in District 7-6A play, securing a postseason berth for the seventh-consecutive year and the 18th time in 22 seasons of University Interscholastic League membership. The Rangers have also earned the opportunity to host a bi-district playoff game for the first time since 2022.Â
The Rangers also extended their winning streak over the Rams to 13 games.
Jesuit churned out a season-high 292 yards on the ground and also got 94 yards from Daboub as he and Parker found hole-after-hole during the contest. Jesuit averaged 7.2 yards per rush and had five carries of 20-plus yards, including runs from Parker of 53 and 52 yards on consecutive drives in the third quarter. The rangers extended their halftime lead from 28-14 to 42-14 with those drives.
Beck Berry threw for 102 yards with a 24-yard strike to Harlan Buecler that tied the game at 7-7 3:04 into the game. Daboub struck for his first touchdown on the next possession, running it in from three yards out.
After a Ram touchdown tied it at 14, the Rangers scored on their next two possessions - an 11-yard run by Daboub and a 1-yarder from Berry - to take control of the game with a 28-14 lead going into the half.
Cooper McGough made all six point-after attempts and then connected on a season-long 43 yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
Berkner used receiver Daquwan Dunn at quarterback for the majority of the game. He scored the Rams' first two touchdowns on runs of 64 and 54 yards. he finished with 14 carries for 147 yards - just 29 yards after the first quarter. He also threw for 82 yards on 7-of-11 but was sacked four times.
Berkner came into the game with one of the top-10 defenses in the area, allowing an average of 14.4 points per game and 212.4 yards of total offense. The Rangers had eclipsed both of those early in the third quarter.
Jesuit converted its first four third down opportunities and ended the game with a season-best 7-of-13. The Blue and Gold racked up a season-high 390 yards.
Jesuit will finish the regular season at Nimitz (0-9, 0-6)Â next Friday, Nov. 5. Kickoff at Joy and Ralph Ellis Stadium will be at 7 p.m.
