Beck Berry threw for a career-high 293 yards and
Cade Kirby hauled in three touchdown passes to lead Jesuit Dallas past Arlington Lamar, 65-41, in a UIL Bi-District Playoff game at Ranger Stadium on Friday.
Jesuit improves to 6-5 on the season and advances to the Area Round where it will face Denton Guyer (9-2) on Friday, Nov. 21 in Irving at Joy and Ralph Ellis Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. The Rangers are now 12-6 all-time in Bi-District postseason games.
The 65 points are the third-most scored by a Jesuit team in a UIL Playoff contest.
The Rangers rushed for 218 yards and three for 295 on 12-of-14 passing. Jesuit recovered three of five Lamar fumbles and scored on its first 10 possessions. The defense held the strong Viking run game to just 16 net yards on 26 carries. Lamar had just 69 yards gained but lost 53 on sacks and tackles behind the line of scrimmage - which Jesuit finished with seven TFL and three sacks..
In addition to Berry's three touchdowns passing, Kirby hauled in four catches for 181 yards and two touchdowns.
Shane Parker found the end zone twice as he finished with 122 yards on nine carries.
Jesuit was not messing around on offense Friday, scoring on five or fewer plays in a drive eight times along with a fumble recovery for a score in the third quarter.
The schools traded scores to open the game as the score stood knotted at 14-14 after the first quarter before the Rangers scored 17-consecutive points to break the game open. Following a Lamar score, Jesuit broke off 31-straight points to extend the lead to 62-21 midway through the third quarter.
Cooper McGough was outstanding in the kicking game, making all eight extra points, connecting on field goals of 29, 29 and 34 yards, averaging 49 yards on two punts and sending seven of 12 kickoffs into the end zone for a touchback.
Shane Parker had 161 all-purpose yards, rushing for 122 yards on nine carries with a TD and hauling in four passes for 39 yards and a TD. He has scored five touchdowns on 25 touches in the last three games.
Gabriel James and Cabe Weismueller each had seven tackles for Jesuit.
